Amputees

Amputees

Postby Debby Tutton on Sun Nov 01, 2009 2:45 pm

I am an amputee requiring a below the knee prosthesis. In UK the Nat Health ones were ... frumpy but acceptable and fairly comfortable. With the french health system being declared as the best in Europe I was keen to see what they could provide for me.

I was mortified !!!

The description of flowerpot on a plank would suit very well. I discussed the "item" with my prosthetist who could not understand my point. He felt that if it did not cause sores and I could walk what was the problem. Cosmetics were a by product (and I had the best available with a "silicon" cover - which started unpeeling almost immediately).

Is there anyone out there who also has experience of French prosthetics as I am keen to compare notes ?
