Hi,

I guess that you have visited our page about Armagnac (http://www.french-property.com/regions/midi_pyrenees/armagnac-eaux-vie/)

Where to taste and buy good Armagnac:

The Bas-Armagnac area is a must. Here are recommended domaines in the bas armagnac area:

Domaine de Lagajan-Pontouat. Gentilehomme de Gascogne Armagnac and Floc de Gascogne are produced there. Great place to visit, taste and purchase. Phone: 05 62 09 81 69

Le Chevalier Gascon. 1941, 1944 and 1949 Armagnac available. Phone: 05 62 09 82 08

Château Millet. Taste and purchase Bas Armagnac, Floc de Gascogne and local wines. Phone: 05 62 09 87 91

Château Berrit in Cazeneuve offers Armagnac, Floc de Gascogne and Prunes in Old Armagnac. Phone: 05 62 09 90 37

The Eauze (a town of Midi Pyrenees) market is very nice too with a large market on Thursday mornings.

How to taste an Armagnac:

The first thing you need to know about Armagnac is that the best moment to sip it is the end of a meal as a digestive. Specialists do agree on the fact that it is important to appreciate the Armagnac visually, but also to smell it before the tasting itself.

Visually: this Gascony drink must be limpid and have no impurity.

Smelling: smelling over the glass and on each side of it should allow you to smell each aroma developped by the Armagnac. Also try to shake the glass to wake unveiled aromas. This phase is very important.

Drinking: Try to first sip few drops of this liqueur to get used to it, your palate and tongue are the main places allowing the flavour to develop itself fully. After having drunk, exhaling with the nose is another way to fully appreciate the Armagnac.

If you could not find what you were looking for, here is a comprehensive list of Armagnac producers and chateaux. http://www.cognacnet.com/armagnac/arm10producers.htm

Kind regards,
